A short tutorial and the usual rant

I know that some new readers may look at the different colors and just say "pick a color and stick with it!" but I'm really just trying to make it easier for all of you. I've been putting all of the celebrity stuff in red and my usual rants in blue (since it is....my signature color)

So, as you will read, this is just one of my usual rants ;) I tend to start and not be able to stop but this has a few topics that seem not to have anything to do with the other but in fact , one leads to another....

I've got my spring cleaning just about done-I know, spring? Winter isn't even over. But I have just gotten the book "Does this Clutter Make My Butt look Big?" by Peter Walsh and it has inspired me to declutter. Basically, what Peter (who is great on the show "Clean Sweep" and has been on Oprah) talks about -besides the fact that we all have too much stuff-is that when you declutter your home, you declutter your life. People who clear up (rather than just clean up) their homes feel lighter and even lose more weight. Clutter weighs on your brain and your body. If you have a kitchen full of "stuff" that just sort of makes you sigh when you look at it, it's going to prompt you to either go out, order in or just get in and out as soon as possible. That normally means that you don't stay long enough to make a balanced, nutricious meal.
So, I've cleared out 5 bags of clothes (and trust me, I've still got a closetfull! lol) dusted, vaccuumed and got things just the way I want them and I've been feeling great! I'm pretty much over my cold and sleeping through the night with no medicinal help. While my life isn't perfect (is it ever??) I'm feeling lighter....I don't have to postpone things--you know how you say "Well, I'll do this as soon as I do this and get it out of the way" well, I've gotten all of my stuff out of the way. If I want to do some scrapbooking, I know where all my stuff is! I don't feel like I'm wasting time playing Second Life or WoW when I should be doing something else. It feels like spring!

Speaking of feeling lighter...I'm going back to my Wednesday meetings. I haven't gone since December and while those of you who see me eat my healthy food at lunch haven't said anything, I know that the weightloss has stopped. It's hard to talk about because any time you talk about any kind of plan you are on, people start watching. There is this one girl at work...it got to be so annoying...every time I saw her (and I see her almost every...single...day) she would ask how much weight I lost...how much I lost this week. Well, ya know what? I really don't like to talk about it. It puts this kind of pressure on me that really isn't good for my head. I do very good at breakfast...and all day at work I do what I'm supposed to do...and then it's time to go home...and it's just easier to pick up something on the way home. I'm thinking that since I have done the decluttering (see the above paragraph)that I' m gonna be back on program...I'm going to try doing 30 minutes of excersize before I get ready for work, try to walk 30 minutes during my lunch (it better not rain!), and then maybe some more when I get home. Gonna try to get all of my water in, my 5 fruits and vegetables per day, and all of that good stuff. I feel that wonderful "thing" you feel when you start something...

So, now I'm ready to get my garden back in shape and work on my needlecrafts and this beautiful new lion hookrug that Mom bought me to keep my hands occupied. I'm starting over, how about you? You ready to start something great?

On that pleasant note, 3 days til Oscar! Woo Hoo!

    Rules of calling Customer Service!

    • 1. Before you call any 800 number--Please put your children, animals & significant others in a closet and lock the door til you're done. We really don't appreciate hearing your children screaming in our ears. We don't, in any way, find their antics nearly as priceless as you do.
    • 2. Read your bill before you start bitching and whining about it. Read the front and back of all pages. Read it every single month. No company ever just puts charges on your bill just for thrills or to see how long it will take you to notice. All price increases need to be okayed by the FCC or PUC before they take effect and you are given at least 30 days notice.
    • 3. It doesn't matter how long you've gone to school or whether you are a doctor, lawyer or Indian chief, I still know more about your service than you do. I know more about the technology than you do and I've got all day to listen to you as you lose your braincells. (And just so you know, whenver it gets very quiet, you are on mute as we *laaaaauuugghh*, tell our neighbors how stupid you are and wait for you to just....shut up)
    • 4. Just about anything a "supervisor" can do, we can do...we just don't want to give it to you. Why should we? Sometimes it just feels better to piss you off.
    • 5. Anyone over 60 must take a test before they are allowed to get any sort of electronics. If you can't operate it, you can't have it.
    • 6. Please stop asking us how we are ..we really don't care how you are and you make us politely ask you after you ask us. Just start talking and whining about the problem so that we don't have to "mute" you (see previous posts about what happens when you are muted)
    • 7. Do *not* eat or chew gum while talking to us. I can understand if you were catching up on lunch while on hold and I'm willing to give a little leeway but you better apologize for it and stop. Do you know how many times I've wanted to tell people that I can't understand them with their mouth full? And to ask them if their mother ever told them that it was just plain rude! I don't chew gum while I'm talking to you...do you consider yourself better than me? You think you are better than *me*?
